LG Scarlet comes into the market as one of the thinnest LCD TVs in the world. With its sleak design and full HD resolution, the LG Scarlet is set to be a huge success. The TV was first unveiled at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January in Las Vegas. LG said the Scarlet is just 45mm thick, making it LG’s thinnest LCD TV. The Scarlet series has a striking appearance, utilising a bright red design which will appeal to viewers who want a TV that is attractive to look at as well as to watch. The unique Scarlet television includes intelligent sensor technology which detects the surrounding light level and provides users with the perfect picture.

LG’s personification of the TV broke down into several different areas, based on the set’s features. Its distinctive red-hued back, color-changing LED light power aperture and invisible speaker (”dazzling”); TruMotion 100Hz reducing blur on fast-moving scenes and sound tuned by Mr. Mark Levinson (”exciting”); an Intelligent Sensor for automatic picture adjustments (”intelligent”); and Expert Mode and A/V Hot Key for refined tuning (”extraordinary”). These also became part of the marketing messages, and the guiding principles in selecting a real-life “Scarlet” to personify them.

I couldn’t have been more delighted!!!

An Old Story:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.

Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Indian Version:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant’s house.

Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter.

Mayawati states this as ‘injustice’ done on Minorities.

Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance).

Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for ‘Bengal Bandh’ in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.

Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the ‘Grasshopper Rath’.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the ‘ Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act’ [POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter.

Arjun Singh makes ‘Special Reservation ‘ for Grasshoppers in Educational Institutions & in Government Services.

The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, it’s home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.

Arundhati Roy calls it ‘ A Triumph of Justice’.

Lalu calls it ‘Socialistic Justice’.

CPM calls it the ‘ Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden’.

Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.

Many years later…

The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley.

100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India.

…AND…

As a result of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the grasshoppers, India is still a developing country!!!

Been almost 3 years since I had first installed a sub woofer in my car. See here!
And I guess it was high time I upgraded the bass system since the earlier 700 watt wasn’t able to give me the punch in my Chevy… though it sounded fantastic in the Indica. So here is the latest gadget in my collection - the TREMOR X-124 from Earthquake Sound.

As the product site quotes, “The TremorX is one of the latest additions to Earthquake’s many lines of subwoofers. It is designed to carry a tough presence while satisfying the craving for major bass.” And I’m pretty impressed with the output.

Specifications:
Nominal Impedance: 4 Ohm
Power Handling (continuous): 400W
Power Handling (peak): 1,250W
Driver: 12” (30.48 cm)
Weight: 11.5 kg

“I don’t drive fast, I fly slow.” What a great line, but you know what you should really stick on your car, Mr. Indica?
“I don’t cum fast, I get up slowly!”

We have this dude telling us, “Believe In Your Dreams”. I disagree. I only dream of having sex with playmates. That is just excellent for me. But what about my psyched neighbour who gets dreams of getting sodomised by his pedophile uncle who just arrived yesterday, from a village far far away?
Believe in your dreams!
